Lino Ventura, born in 1919 in Parma, Italy, and passed away in 1987 in France, was an Italian actor who became one of the iconic figures of French cinema. Originally a professional wrestler, Ventura made a remarkable transition to cinema in the 1950s, bringing his physical presence and taciturn charisma to numerous roles in film noir and crime movies.
His career took off with films like “Touchez pas au grisbi” (1954) and was solidified with memorable performances in “Les Tontons flingueurs” (1963) and “Le Clan des Siciliens” (1969). Ventura was known for his natural and authentic acting style, often portraying tough but fair characters with unquestionable moral integrity.
Beyond his film career, Lino Ventura was also known for his humanitarian work. He founded the association “Perce-Neige,” aimed at helping disabled children, following the birth of his daughter who had severe disabilities.
